Loafers for Women

Penny loafers equal timeless elegance. This type of loafer is characterized by a sleek, slip-on design with a distinctive slip across the vamp. Penny loafers for women exude sophistication and refinement. Initially crafted for men, penny loafers swiftly gained popularity among women over time. Why are they called penny loafers? The name stems from an old tradition where wearers would insert a penny into the slit located on the vamp. Why was this done? For good luck, as a fashion statement, or simply because people needed to have a little extra money on hand for making unexpected phone calls (remember this was a time where people didn’t walk around with a smartphone in their pocket yet). The coin added a subtle yet impactful detail to the penny loafer, that was both practical and fashionable.
